A dress made from a vintage pattern.
I’ve made a couple of changes but I might make the original version, too because I like how it looks on the envelope.
I put elastic at the back and also sewed in a zipper which was really fiddly because at first I didn’t want to include one and I had already done the smocking. It’s not perfect, but ok.
On the hem I used a zigzag stitch for decoration and the collar is topstiched (I’ve also changed its shape a bit).
The sleeves are selfdrafted.
7 buttons,
zipper,
flower fabric,
lining,
some interfacing

You are expressing with your creations a tremendous knack for style…color choices & detail. Great dress adaptation & thank you for sharing the pattern-what a find! I think you travel time warps because you have captured the essence of vintage!

What a beautiful dress! I love that print and your changes are really nice. Great job! I wish I could draft sleeves… they are so confusing!

I’m lucky because my mum still has some instructions on how to draft them and if I don’t understand a step I can ask her (when I’m at home- it doesn’t really work through the phone : D). Sleeves are still confusing, but it’s getting better.

My mom laughs at me when I ask her questions about altering sleeves ;-P I need to find a book about it I think and work from there!

Oh, really?! I had no idea it was.
I’m sorry, I’m not living in the UK. The shop where I bought it is called alfatex. They also have an onlineshop but I’m afraid they won’t have the fabric any more since I bought it about one year ago. You could have a look, maybe you find some other fabric you know from a garment in a shop? The English site of the shop is not fully translated, though.
And thank you for the 5* !!

I love love love it…the fabric choice is perfect. what kind of cotton is this? It drapes really well on the skirt but gives great structure on the bodice.

Thanks!
Actually I wanted to make it last year in spring but I didn’t have time. Then I thought it might also be a nice dress for autumn but again- no time. I’m happy I had time this year and can finally wear it : )

I fell in love with the print when I saw it. For some reason I didn’t like it any more shortly before the dress was finished. Now I love it again. strange. Maybe it was just the fact that I hadn’t shortended the dress yet and just didn’t like the length – not the print.
