This year I wanted to make a new skirt for Mother’s Day since I was going to a nice brunch and church and everything and this is what I came up with! I’ve been on a high waist skirt kick, and since they’re so easy I thought I’d make a nice floral one for spring. I wanted the waistband to be stiff even though the fabric was so flowy, so I used a ton of interfacing and it worked out just fine. After a bad experience with an invisible zipper I’ve been using regular centered zippers that do not extend into the waistband, and just finishing it off with a few buttons on the top. Unlined, but has side seam pockets.

I love the fabric! It is so hard to look at everyone’s spring creations though – we are just starting winter and it is 4 degrees here at the moment! I need winter sewing inspiration!

Thank you :) Small floral prints are pretty forgiving, perfect for my sewing skills! Needless to say, I love them too.
