Top based on a tunic I brought home from India and Amy Butler’s Lotus Tunic. I altered the pattern majorly, and it was the first time I really took a lot of creative freedom. The pattern calls for back darts and a zipper. Since the tunic I already have just fits snug without a back zipper, I skipped that. It has princess seams in the front which shape it nicely for an hourglass figure. It also calls for lining, which seemed unnecessary, skipped it. I also added open side seams from the hip down to match my tunic. Arm and neck openings finished with bias trim. The fit is perfect, I followed almost exactly the pattern’s Medium sizing, and just shortened it a bit too. I love it!

This looks amazing on you. I particularly like the side vents you added as it makes it a bit more forgiving for those of us with wider bottoms than tops – perfect thing to add to my pattern when I attempt this. Am trying to find a Tory Burch-esque tunic pattern, but this is just lovely too. Congrats on such a well done project!

It turned out beautiful, and looks good both with and without a belt. I think the open side seams really do the trick.
