Since last season I have seen this style of matching high waisted skirts and crop tops. I wanted in on this cute matching trend, so I transformed our Theater Dress pattern into a two piece suit! It was simple to do since this dress style already had a waistline seam. I shortened the top by 3" from the waistline, and then added an additional 1 1/2" leather band. I didn’t want sleeves on my suit, so instead I drafted a combined neckline armhole facing. You can see how I constructed my facing here on my sewing technique post.
I used a spray can printed fabric that is actually a digital image of an installation by Toronto artist Julian Michael Majewski, and the lovely people at Spoonflower printed it on shiny cotton silk! I love this print, and style of suit. I can see myself wearing it on an evening out or maybe to an art gallery opening.
