Description

I like to try new patterns, and thought this was very nice and fun :) I found this transparent net-chiffon in my stash and decided it would be perfect for this top. It is challenging with such fabric so I had to hand stitch around the neck and use small zig-zag around the sleeves and hem. I also used a thin rubberband in the hem because I thought it was a bit loose. I used french seams in the sides as suggested. I have used the same fabric for a dress earlier in another color: www.burdastyle.com/projects/smily-evening-dress

Thank you very much! Yeah, I made another one for my niece with satin fabric, but it’s better with lighter fabric.

Beautiful choice of fabric that top looks lovely. I’m about to make one of these tops and I saw you had already made one and was wondering if you could help clarify something. It tells me to draft the neck and tie band and on the cutting layout it shows 2 of this piece being cut out, do i need 2 or just the one 51 1/3 inch long piece for the neck and tie? I’m getting all confused by that part. Thanks for the help in advance!

Thank your for your kind comment Tracey! First you need a small one for the split, and a long one for the tie band and around the neck. Good luck! Looking forward to see yours! ps. I have already made another one. It’s a great pattern :)

Gorgeous! This has just come up on my activity feed! I really wanted to see another finished project based on this pattern. How much fabric does it take? Also, I believe it is a very quick project once you cut the slippery fabric?!

Thanks Irina! Yeah, it’s a very easy project and I have already made another in satin, but I will prefer a very light fabric like net stretch which I have used for this one…

Ellen – your top is fab BUT what I love almost always in your pictures is your authenticity and your radiance. It’s the sparkle in your eyes and your shine that tells me, you absolutely love your life :). I hope I’ll be the same when I’m in your age!
