Burda 5/2011
So. It’s almost official. Autumn is coming to town :( And i was in desperate need of a dress for colder weather. Now… have to admit, dont look that autumnish and warm but oh well… I did line it so that counts doesnt it? ;)
Purple skirt part is an old apron (hence the pocket ;) and yellow top a curtain ( yes, again :P). This is first time i tried lining a dress. But only top part ’cos fabric was quite sheer (is it the right word?). It was quite challenging and yet very interesting to figure out how it is done :P Inside doesnt look that pretty unfortunately, next time will do better ;)
One thing i reccomend to change about this dress is the back part. It looked almost ok on the pic but in real life looked like a poofy balloon. Tried to take it in to minimize the damage. With different fabric and for summer – why not!
When i finished the dress looked great! But seemed like the top was missing something… Old curtain had 6 buttons (covered with same fabric) attached so i tried to find ways to sew them to this dress but yellow on yellow. seemed too far fetched. So ditched them ( so far ;). Instead added a bow from the same apron-strings ;)
The dress is quite tight around my body but still has room to move around… Luckily!
Cotton apron and curtains.

I love the linen-look fabric and the colours and I love the style of the dress. But I do agree, I thought there was something strange about the syle of the back of the bodice. I’m not sure what the designer was thinking of there! The front is so elegant and fitted and then the back is all poofy like that for no reason. You did well to minimize the poof! Thank you for sharing and confirming what I was thinking!! :-)

I really like the colour combination of this cute dress. And so thrifty to use aprons and curtains! Can you please explain how you changed the back of this dress? Did you add darts? Thanks

I dont know where but i somehow found courage to mix these two colors together and look how pretty it turned out. I just took it in a lot verticali. You should see two lines on the sides.
