Description

This is my first attempt at an authentic corset. I had a lot of trouble drafting the pattern as I wanted to learn from the ground up – this probably wasn’t the best idea for a beginner in corsetry! I used twill/ poplin for strength. I can’t wait to start working on my next one!

Material Notes

spiral steel, busk, steel stays, grommets, lace (8 yards)

Intermediate

Good Job. I have that same pin up space girls fabric in my stash, and was going to use it in a quilt. I really like how you used it. It turned out really nice.

It looks really wonderful! I thought that the picture on the corset was a continuation of your tattoos! That would be a neat idea but would take some stitching- I bet.

Nice job. You might find Norah Waugh’s book Corsets and Crinolines useful. I haven’t read it yet myself but do read the blog bridges on the body which chronicles the author’s creations as she sews through the book.

matching up that print on the front must have been brutal! (I think it’s separate pieces?) p.s. your back tattoo is sick

You did a great job, especially for your first one! It looks flawless, and your tattoos are gorgeous, by the way.
