This dress is inspired by the 60s space age era. I combined silk and polyester to give the dress the retro look but made the shape of the dress more feminine and modern.
I also wanted to give a nod to the 60s home sewers by adding embroidery and beads to the bodice. I absolutely love the 60s/70s quirky sewing and crafts magazines and books.
This dress is an original design. The bodice is made out of vintage polyester and features embroidery, beads and buttons on the front and back. The waist band is pleated and constructed out of dupion silk. The skirt of the dress is gathered and features a 2nd layer of silk gauze. This dress closes with an invisible zipper on the side.
