this dress was actually inspired by a safari birthday, but i think it works as a winter maxi (especially now that winter is totally F’ed up and it’s 60 degrees every third day.)
you can read more about the process & challenge at the sew weekly
i used cynthia rowley for simplicity, 2250, and what a COOL pattern this is— lots of weird darts and pleats and great instructions on exactly how to proceed. would have gone a lot easier if i hadn’t used this eyelet/mesh lace/crochet stuff— it was a bear to mark— but i’m happy with it! i’m in the middle of shortening it, as the maxi length was for the challenge.

The dress looks fantastic. Did you have to make any alterations for a strapless version, or is the elastic insert at back enough to keep it up? I’m about to make a summer version of this one myself.

Love it. I could wear that in winter here, with some strategic layers! Hmmmm… may need my own.
