I saw this fabric and liked the drape of it so decided to use it to make a supposedly simple Christmas present – Colette Patterns’ Sorbetto top. Cutting the fabric went well and I chose some trimmings to show off the pleat – the black lace.
I added a collar which I love the look of from the front, but it lies awfully at the back – luckily the person I’m giving it to, has long hair! I lengthened the top by an inch and a half as I always find it a tad short.
To add extra work, my over-locker decided to chew up the seams rather than finish the edges nicely, so I then had to make some bias binding to encase the seams. I have to say, despite the extra work, I do like the neat look inside now, I used the binding on the hem as well.
