Burda Style For people who sew

Description
This is a project I did a couple of years ago from vintage lace doilies, silk curtains and linen tablecloth with lace edging.
I didn’t use a pattern, just made it on my mannequin so it has a sculptural quality. I sold the top separately but still have the skirt.
The skirt laces up the high waisted back ( no picture) with eyelet closures and eagle feathers that dangle from the botton of the leather lacing.
I found the eagle feathers floating on the surface of a lake close to where I live. I watched the eagle bathing in the lily pads and when it flew up into the cedar tree to dry off it opened it’s wings to the wind. I watched as some of his feathers fell out and landed on the surface of the water then paddled over to collect them. This is a very special garment to me.

i love the skirt. all of it is beautiful! is the skirt just done with pickups? i would love to make somthing similar!

Yes, it is done with pickups. I just adjusted them as I went along to create the shape I wanted.

Thanks! I have it for sale right now…..but think I’ll end up keeping it for those reasons…..Plus, it’s fits me perfectly :)
