I was asked to participate in a blog hop by Simplicity. They sent me 3 patterns from which they wanted me to choose one and mock it up and write about it. Um. Yes Please! I was happy to participate and from it I chose to give Simplicity 1913 a go.
As this is a Project Runway pattern there are several pattern options, nearly all of which I didn’t use…. I tried doing several but soon found that for my shape and fashion sense, less is more. I loved the princess seamed bodice – something I usually don’t go for as I’ve always felt that princess seams were never really that great on me. Much to my surprise they look rather fab. At least to me. I opted not to do the gathering at the waist, not because I didn’t like it and or want it, but because I can’t do gathers at my waist no matter how hard I try. Right there in my middle, they just don’t work real well. I can’t pull them off for some reason. Sigh. So instead, I did tucks and I love them! Yay!
I fully lined the entire dress and made it semi fitted rather than my usual fitted within a centimeter of breathing. This factor alone makes the dress so wearable. I can throw on a cardi and flats for everyday, yet swap out for some heels and sparkly jewels for night. Now that’s magic!
Last but not least, I finished it off with a tab and buttons. I’ve received so many compliments on this dress, its crazy! Lots a love for sheaths. Now, don’t you wish you had one? As always, you can read more on my blog!

Yes, well done sunnil, this dress looks great on you and the colour perfect. The 2 little tucks at the waist and the tab front with buttons has given this dress a very chic finish.
