Smocked Shirt

Added Jun 5, 2012

Groningen, Nethe...

Who said smocking is oldfashioned? I was left with a front piece cut out for a cowl neck after a failed project, and I had been wanting to try smocking for some time now. The perfect solution! I think it gives the shirt a cool structure, making it interesting but still fairly basic. What do you think?

I totally agree, it gives a little something to a basic top. I would love to make one for myself, could you tell me how did you calculate the amount of fabric needed on the front part? Thanks

You need twice as much as you have. These are 2 cm in size and I started with 7 pleats, so 28 cm extra fabric. As I said the pattern was not cut out with smocking in mind.

The smocking is beautiful and really makes this top unique. Well done.
