Burda Style For people who sew
Description
I added a smoked area at the waist to get more silhouette into the anda pattern. Therefore i traced a size 38 in the upper part and a size 50 in the lower part. Afterwards i closed one side seam and marked a grid of 1,5cm x 1,5cm at the waist area. Then i smoked this part by hand. After this i closed the remaining seams and just finished the seams. Thats it, very simple but a lot of hand sewing!

@maldrich:i have to admit that i don’t know the difference between counter-change smock and pleats…the waist area is stretchy but only a little bit. if you stretch it to much the diamond shaped smocking looses its shape and don’t look so well….

This is truly exquisite! I have a dress similar in color to this one from J.Crew six years ago with a smocked waistline and a smocked off the shoulder collar. I’ve been itching to try my hand at recreating it. Your dress is so close to being identical! Did you counter-change smock (not stretchy) or smock using pleats (stretchy)?
