Slow Couture Remix

Added May 13, 2013

by marie-michelle

Le Croisic, France

Handcrafted from head to toe! There is a special feeling of empowerment when wearing an outfit made entirely out of hand. To circumvent mass production, homogeneous standardization and inhumane outsourcing conditions is for me, however small the scale, moral agency at its rawest.

Hand stitched and embellished Alabama Chanin maxi babydoll dress, handknit cashmere bolero, hand rolled and stitched silk roses, handcrafted leather gladiator sandals from Rondini (http://www.rondini.fr/)

Material Notes

Organic cotton jersey and Miyuki seed beads for the dress, cashmere wool for the bolero, Lanvin silk marquisette and silk organza for the headdress.

Garment Type
Bohemian, Romantic
Cashmere, Cotton, Silk

Not exactly… the dress and the roses yes! The sandals are from Rondini – a family run 80 year old workshop in the south of France that handcrafts sandals by hand and the bolero is the loving work of my mother in law. Still… all of it is handmade!
