Wow, I love this. It’s so simple and elegant! If you are interested in using real leather for cheap, try scouring thrift shops for a long leather skirt. I got that tip from another Burda member and was able to get a long leather skirt for $3 that I was able to use for 2 projects!

I love this style bag—i think it is timeless and goes with most ensembles! I just ordered some faux leather and i can’t wait to attempt something similar. Any tips? i have never worked with that fabric before.

Make sure you use a leather needle, and extra strong thead, and normal thread in bobbin. Using a teflon foot helps a bit, but so does putting scotch tape on the underside of your machine foot. If things are still sticking and not going through smoothly then use grease proof paper (baking patchment) both under and over the fabric. Though most of the time faux leather is a lot easier to machine sew then real leather.
