This is a great little party dress! But beware of charmeuse, it is definitely not a fabric for a beginner what with it slipping all over the place. (Much patience and basting required!)
I had to resize the pattern to a smaller size in the bust, which was challenging, but fun. I still ended up taking in the side bust area seams some more, and I think I lost some of the depth of the pleats because the end underarm seams ended up very high. I didn’t redo them at the time of making, because the thought of un-picking and replacing the invisible zip AGAIN was too much.
But the perfectionist in me will no doubt cause me to fix it before the next party comes along.
Overall, I’m very happy with the result, especially since the material only cost about $3!

Ooh…pretty! I’m currently working on my own ; it’s pale gray with brown vines, green leaves, and peach flowers. The lace is sand-colored crochet. I’m going to make mine a bit longer than the original.

This looks great! (I had similar problems with the armholes without adjusting sizes, so it may just be the pattern?) I love, love, love the color. ;)

Looks great! I have sewn this in poly satin and was slippery like hell, I can only imagine how difficult the charmeuse can be. You did a great job!
My armholes also ended up very high and I struggled with the plackets, found it difficult to have nice finished edges all around… I have to take pictures of it…

It looks great!
I will start my own version of Minna this week, for a wedding I’m attending in May, hopefully it’ll look as great as yours.
