Learner-in-progress disclaimer: Shouldn’t have used striped fabric without taking the time to match them…poop. Other than that sloppy move, I’m so happy with these! They are just what I wanted them to be; ridiculously high-waisted short shorts for Summer.
Thinking more colorful fringed thrift store tees, bustiers and swimsuits for the top since the shorts waist hits just a couple inches below the bust line.
Going to try and hunt down better denim choices for more makes. Floral or other wild prints or DIY’ing acid wash… (if bleach were more earth-friendly, I’ll feel so much better about using it – are there bleach alternatives I can look into?)
Denim with a hint of stretch to it, zipper fly, four buttons, white cotton for high-waist panel facing.

They are gorgeous! I love the cut and the super high waist, it’s so flattering! I adore the fabric and the buttons as well. ♥ Would you mind posting the pattern? I would love to try to make these but I’m only a beginner and drafting my own patterns is way too hard for me. So, pretty please? :D

Oh, in that case I totally understand. Good luck with your clothing line, I’m sure you’ll do really well. :)
I’ll definitely try making my own once I get a bit more experience in sewing. Thanks for being so inspirational! :D

I know that you can use vinegar or lemon to brighten whites, but not sure if it removes the dye from fabric. Definitely let me know if you find out and goodluck!

I love these and I love the stripes. Trial and error as far as matching them up goes. It happens to me with every garment. Did you use a pattern or draft them yourself? I would love to make a pair similar. I love high waisted shorts.
Maybe Hydrogen peroxide?!?! I’m not sure but now I’m curious as well. I love google!

Ahh Elizabeth, you’re fabulous, thank you for the awesome note. The stripe-matching, I know, I know, but now that I know how to better lay out the pattern pieces and avoid the mis-matching, I’m definitely going to take the time next round and clean that part up! I drafted the pattern. I had been trying to find pants or shorts that were very very high-waisted for some time so I think finally the frustration led to DIY motivation. :)
Let me know what you discover about bleach alternatives! I was thinking more along the lines of vinegar or something more earth-friendly. I’m headed out to buy some cheap denim and I’d love to try out other methods of acid-washing. Yay!
