First ever corset, used a New Look pattern (which is currently hiding, so I don’t know the number) and modified it. The pattern called for a side zipper and no lacing. I wanted lacing so adjusted the back pieces to accommodate it. Lined with light cotton, Cable ties in the seam allowances for boning, and ribbon and eyelets for the back lacing. Obviously not a ‘real’ corset, but now I at least have an idea of what to do and what not to do when I spend a ton of money for boning and busks and such. I will have to figure out a way to add another closure for other ‘dress’ corsets I plan on making…unlacing to take it off and trying to lace myself into it isn’t so much fun. Will definitely add some boning next to the eyelets in back, it tends to bunch up a bit there but fits pretty well everywhere else.
Saw this fabric and fell in love…got it for 40% off and loved it even more. Brought it home and my husband looked at it rather warily, but decided it looks pretty good as the finished product.
