I used to have loads of these back in the late 90s. I think I hit the new low on sewing though, I have absolutely no fabric for winter, simply can’t afford it it as it is ridiculously expensive in Ireland. Waiting on sales but slowly losing it. I have no interest really since it would cost me more to make a project (there’s always a risk of messing up and having to throw away your material) than to buy high street garments.
That’s just the way it is I suppose, still I have to postpone my Winter collection for a while :S
However I can always alter things, I had this vintage Calvin Klein acid wash/high waist jeans forever. I wore them over and over till I got so sick of them I cut them short…after wearing the hell out of them as shorts I got fed up and made a skirt :)
Real easy to alter jeans this way, just follow these easy steps in this tutorial:
You will need a pair of jeans which aren’t to fitted, they have to be a bit loose otherwise you won’t have enough fabric to work with. Should also be noted that the little triangle part at the bottom in the middle slit can also be filled/patched in with a piece of denim, leather or anything that you like (tartan/plaid print perhaps, they are huge this season)
