Description

This is StyleArc’s Simply Sally top, they are an Australian pattern company which draws patterns to your sizing. I loved the look of this top so thought I would give it a go. It came together pretty well, but the process was made a headache because I had tension issues with my overlocker :(
Still, on the whole, I’m pretty happy :)
I have included a pic of the back, as it wasn’t what I expected, but I still like it.

Material Notes

I used a beautiful Japanese knit which is not what is suggested by the pattern maker, it is quite thick and thus the knot is quite bulky. The suggested fabric is a lightweight woven!

Thanks Susan, it looks even better now that I have finished the seams better, I wore it yesterday to dinner, but untied with the front panels pinned, it looked unusual :)

…actually, I might follow my own advice and cut it to a gentle curve before I wear it out :)

Hi Marjorie, I haven’t made them yet, but I bought the Wendy pants and the Lexley blouse/dress. I was amazed that the patterns are hand drawn and so beautifully too :) As far as the back of the Sally top goes, I think if this is the view you want to wear (as opposed to the knot being at the front), then you could just cut off the apex of the triangle and redesign the fall, then a simple seam would do it.

Hi Jenny, This StyleArc Simply Sally top looks great on you. I bought this pattern and was going to make it up too but didn’t realize it looked like that at the back either. The front is perfect and as the pattern shows but I am not sure about the back. Can you get someone to tuck it in or fold it under. I will do a trial run as I don’t want to use the stretch velvet I bought and not be happy with the top.I wanted my top for the Christmas party season as it is so cocktail party looking!!! I really like StyleArc patterns and the ones I have made have been such a good fit. Have you bought any others?
