This is the ultimate beginner dress… it’s a total sack. I wear it with a wide belt to give myself a waist, but it’s wonderfully easy to construct! It’s out of print now, but if you get your hands on the pattern, don’t be fooled by the suggested fabrics. I used a silky-type rayon (fake batik) and it was not substantial enough to make the stand collar (the pattern does not call for interfacing). I fold the collar instead and I also used bias tape to finish the neck seam because it shows when you wear the dress and looks better that way.
Funny story… I bought this material in a fabric market while visiting family in Hong Kong. When I got home, my cousin said, “Say… isn’t that the same stuff that the flight attendants wear on Singapore Airlines?” Why yes. Yes, indeed. forehead smack
