Description

With some boots and a really awesome beret, I’d feel just like Mary Tyler Moore! This is a vintage reprint pattern. I used a heavy knit even thought the pattern was for non-stretch materials. I made one size smaller and omitted the zipper, which made it pretty simple to sew. It slips on over my head and the back belt pulls it in at the waist. The back belt is my favorite part. I just finished this the other day and realized that actually it’s perfect for the fall, not spring! The knit is really heavy. Oh well— I’ll get a few good wears out of it before it gets blazing hot here and then in to the closet until September.

Material Notes

not sure, some sort of heavy duty knit— a blend, I think

Thanks! I get Simplicity patterns at my local fabric store. I’m not sure about overseas— maybe you have to order online.

Love the buttons at the back and the unusual colour combination.

You’re going to make it after all! (Cue: Throw beret up in the air)

I love the way the skirt flares just a little bit.

I also like the back belt very much, especially the two buttons.
