Rock Hill, South...
This was tough….probably a little tough for my current level. But a friend asked me to make it for her son, so I said ok. It literally took me 2 weeks to make this because I took it extra slow and was extra careful to make sure it was as good as I could possibly get it. I think it turned out ok, but not perfect. I changed the vest from one piece of felt to some silk Chinese inspired fabric. I thought it gave it a little of an exotic feel since this was an organ grinder monkey with a fez. I learned that I hate working with fur, A) because it was hard on my machine and B) because it is now everywhere in my sewing room. I learned that adding a lining is a little tough, something I need to work on. I experienced my first thread jam, not sure if it was the way my bobbin was wound or because I was pulling on the fabric or what, but I haven’t had a problem in any projects I have done since. I also had a needle break, not on my machine but while I was slip stitching an opening, and hit me in the eye (maybe I should start wearing goggles haha).
