I’ve made two more of Simplicity 2617 Bag B for birthdays in May, and decided I wanted to make a purse for myself. This is Bag A, instead of B.
A few notes:
- The pattern calls for 2" D-rings. Unless I screwed something up monumentally, 2" is too big, so I used 1.5" instead.
- The D-rings are prone to sliding vertical when you use the bag. I added a row of topstiching as close to the flat part of the D as possible; this helps, but does not solve the problem. Still, the strap is sturdy enough.
- The pattern calls for you to cut two of the pocket piece, but you only use one.
- I accidentally installed the pocket piece upside down, so it came out a couple inches smaller than it should have, but the pocket is still big enough to hold what I need.
I’ve gotten lots of compliments on it, and I really like it.
Cotton, 1.5" D-rings.
