Simplicity 2494

Austin, Texas, U...

I made this fleece hat for a cousin of mine… she is an elite distance runner and once made a comment that she needed a cute hat that would function while being active. I thought this fleece hat might help her with that quest and also because it’s fully washable and smushable and she can basically take it anywhere. The flower embellishment was a little weird, though… still don’t know how I feel about it.

Material Notes

The pattern calls for fleece, but I’m curious to try something with a little body like denim or even a stiff (or starched) linen.

This is gorgeous, i love the flower on the side. It takes a lovely hat and elevates it to a gorgeous one x

The flower in the same color fabric is the perfect embellishment. The Difficulty category is marked as “Intermediate”. What parts might a beginner sewer have problems with?

Thanks! I felt like it was more intermediate because assembling all the little parts of the flower require some control with the sewing machine. I don’t know that I would have had that much control when I was still learning the basics. But it’s still an easy intermediate.

Simply adorable! I have seen the hat patterns, but have never taken on making one. I might just give it a try after seeing your beautiful creation.
