Burda Style For people who sew
Description
For some reason this really simple shirt design popped in my head and the next thing I knew I bought fabric to make it! Self drafted pattern made with a 1950s vintage reprint fabric, gathers at the bust line, and white binding on the armholes and neck. It was only two pieces to cut and sew together so it was quick to make, too.
Now with pattern! I’ve included a 7 size downloadable and printable pattern. Instructions are included in the PDF. Make sure to print the pattern without scaling! And match up the pages according to the lines and notches. If your size isn’t included you can read up on some techniques in the learning section for sizing a pattern.
NOTE: I’m still learning to make patterns so I would greatly appreciate any tips, criticism, notes, anything about the pattern or the instructions. Pattern making has proven to be a lot more complicated than I imagined and I’d love feedback.

Hi, I just love your pattern and will make a tunic for myself soon – but I wondered about the “test square”-thingy on your pattern. It says “4in x 4in, 5cm x 5cm”. But 4 inches are 10,18 centimetres… Just wondered about that… (But thank you for adding it in that much sizes – it will help me a lot! <3)

Please ignore my earlier post – I just figured out how to download the pattern. I am a novice sewer so have a question – when you say to print the pattern without scaling, what do you mean exactly? The pattern appears as 138% (I think). Thanks.

I see what you mean. Same thing happened to me. I found that if you go to the pattern page (http://www.burdastyle.com/patterns/simple-two-piece-tunic) and click on Get It Now the download works.
For some reason if you click that link from here you get an error. I’ll see if I can ask someone from BurdaStyle what’s up. Thanks!

Thank you for this cool pattern! I love these simple but clever pieces and that you finish the edges with bias tape – something I also often do. It´s faster, easier and gives the look the special touch :-) Hope to upload a finished piece soon! PS: Is there any seam allowance included in the pattern?

Thanks. Yeah, there’s no shoulder seam, the back and the top of the front is just one big piece. I was too lazy to cut two front pieces and sew at the shoulder so I thought, why not just make most of it one big piece?

hi. Cute shirt! I am trying to guess the two pieces: Is it the front (belly)? and then the other piece is the back that comes over to the bust???? That doesn’t seem right. Can you please clarify? Thanks. Great pattern
