I keep seeing those fashionable knit shirts with the gathered necklines and thinking “I can do that!” I didn’t have a pattern, though, and I’d never sewn with knits, so I didn’t bother with it. But on a sewing trip during which I found everything EXCEPT the wedding dress fabric I was supposed to be looking for, I found some inexpensive white knit, with adorable little red skull and crossbones on it.
And, as it turns out, yeah, I CAN do that.
White cotton knit, red single fold bias tape.

Nice top! The fit and style are great. I made a top and the neckline does not lay flat. I am going to add gathers to the neckline and see if the gathers solve the problem.

Once you get to know knit. It is fun to sew with. I learned the samw way. I can do it! and You can too I see because your top is very cute. And yes it looks like the tops I recently seen in Old Navy. Way to go!
