Description

I took a 5$ Kohl’s shirt and did a re-fashion to turn it into a tank similar to one I saw on J-Crew. I’ve seen a lot of people doing this lately and I’m glad I tried it because it’s really simple and the result is much more impressive than the work that is put into it.
(The last photo, the one I’m not wearing, is the J-Crew tank)

Love the idea! Thanks for the inspiration! Planning on making a very red dress in the same style as your top. :-) Just found the fabric half an hour ago :-D

I love this! I’m very time-poor [and cash-poor!!] and a re-fashion seems ideal right now. I’m adding this to my to do list!

This is really cool♥ The ruffles add a soft edge to as simple a garment as a tank top! I ♥ IT

very cute – does the ruffle just curl in at the edges, or are they finished somehow?

The ruffle just curls at the edges, but I think if you had a serger you could finish the edges off. I don’t have one, I wonder if there is a way to finish knits with a regular sewing machine? I’d love to know – I’m so new to sewing there ist still a lot for me to learn. I’ve read that knits don’t fray, but I haven’t run it through the wash yet – I hope the ruffle doesn’t fall apart!!

This is fabulous =) I love JCrew, but their clothing is a little out of my college student budget. You did an excellent job on the ruffles.
