Description

simple jacket, front, back and sleeves are one piece, under the arm there are 2 triangles each side to make room for the arm and for movement. I didn’t hem the sleeves, they are not fraying so I might leave them like that. Not quite sure if I like it, and if I should close it somehow… I’m having problems with choosing the closures

Material Notes

light cotton

I love it. You can combine this jacket with everything.

Great jacket! I am very curious what kind of brooch you would choose, as I’m sure your choice must be great. Buttons and closures always bring the final impact to the garments, in my opinion.

@ officeBusyBody: exactly, and I picked the easiest one to start!!! but I whish I can try each one of them @ lauriana: “…it’s among my older creations” oh god! you have 35 creations already!!! I’m so slow, but if I’ll end up sewing so much myself, I’m starting to think I should buy a bigger wardrobe for my new house! anyway, I think I made up my mind for the closure, I’ll use a brooch, … so I’m still able to change my mind again!!

Cool, absolutely cool! It reminded me of the Yakamoto jacket but now that I had a closer look, I can see the differences. I’d love to have a jacket like that!

very nice! I was also going to say that it reminded me of the yamamoto jacket (which I’ve got on fehrtrade.com but I made it before this site started so it’s not on here yet, hmmm)

Cool cool cool, a gusset under armhole does make dolman sleeve more comfortable. I always want to draft one. Great inspiration. Minimal seam is my theme now.

Hey, I recognised this design. It was from the Pattern Magic book. I haven’t tried any of the patterns in it yet (some of them look difficult to sew), so it’s good to see one on a person. It’s a nice design and looks good on you.

With closures maybe you could try one or two large frog closures, or a kilt pin or brooch.

this pattern is way more simple than the yoshimoto one. I also have it but decided to go for this one. On the folded fabric you cut an “arrow shape” and use the triangles, the fabric that is left from the arrow, rotate them to widen under the arm. One of the arrow pointing side is the back, the other is the front and the arrow line is the arm, and that’s it. Anyway I’ve posted another picture, it is definitely clearer than my words….

Funny, at first glance, I also thought you made the Yamamoto jacket and I agree with ceregana on the closure. Actually, I think it would look good to close it like the Yamamoto jacket: with a sew-on snap, sewn just on the inside of the front. (I think you can see the effect on my version, it’s among my older creations)

Hey that is really cool. Looks a bit like a jacket fehrtrade had made. As for the closure I think it shouldn’t be visible on the outside… Sorry not a real help… The pattern - Yamamoto
