I picked up this dark denim skirt second-hand two days ago. When I tried it on at home it was about an inch from being wearable and about two inches from being comfortable. So I added a panel of beige cotton and embellished it with some vintage lace. Check out the full tutorial at http://zoundsdesign.wordpress.com/2011/12/30/simple-fix-for-a-too-tight-skirt/
My skirt was denim, and the added panel of fabric was cotton.
