Silver Doublet

Added Oct 29, 2012

Sittingbourne, U...

A silver doublet for a LARP game!

This is base on a 17th century man’s doublet, redrafted for the female figure and pieced for the panels.

Material Notes

The main fabrics came out of my stash. The silver tinfoil is a nylon knit base with a laminated layer over it rather like space blanket material. It is underlined with cotton calico. The brocade is a polyester ecclesiastical brocade with Lurex threads. The whole thing is lined with white cotton sateen and embellished with metallic silver braid and frog closures.

Less than some projects, but more than enough for an afternoon’s game! ;)

Spectacular! This turned out quite well considering the difficult fabrics.

Yeah, there’s no way you can get a totally ripple free seam on this stuff! And it looks better on me than on the wrong size dummy. :D

Thanks. It was fun. The thing that puts this in the Advanced category is a combination of the pattern drafting and the awkward fabric.
