Description

A gown based on a portrait of Henrietta Maria of France, wife of Charles I, painted in 1633. Silk taffeta and silver lace, with collar and cuffs of cotton muslin and lace. Worn over period correct stays.

The gown is made as a separate bodice and petticoat. The bodice is silver taffeta interlined with cotton calico and lined with cotton sateen. The stomacher is boned with whalebone replacement nylon boning. Bodice and petticoat are held together at the waist with ribbon points.
