Description
This is my first go at using a silky fabric and boy is it slippery lol. I got a few end of roll pieces cheap so i looked for a pattern that would suit. I’ve already made the dress of this pattern so i thought i’d give it a try.while its far from.perfect i have to admit to loving it. The black band came about because i cut it to short but i like how it turned out. I’d a day of work and it was lovely and sunny. The town where i live was built around a castle and theres plenty of it left. The grounds are gorgeous so i managed a few photos. The pics are just of the entrance and i’ll get more later. The tropical sewist should like these x

thank you, i got the fabric really cheap so i thought i’d try it out. i’m not as scared of using it now. the good thing about silky fabrics is how lovely they feel on x

your top looks great Mary! I recently started sewing silky fabrics myself, they can be evil but so comfortable to wear!

hank you so much, i’m thinking of making a few more with different patterns for my holidays. the coolness of the silk would be great in hot weather x

Very nice. I have some silk and was thinking about this pattern, but the fabric is rather garish – Not sure i’ll do the dress – but i might try the blouse!

thank you, you should try the blouse. why don.’t you add a plain back if the fabric is garish . i bet the fabric would look good in this top though, i find simple lines look better with patterned fabric x

Lovely top. Enjoyed the pictures, very nice place. Congrats on sewing with silk. I’m sewing a cotton/poly mix shirt right now, and is slippery but not like silk. I’ve already redone the collar 3 times, also I needed to adjust the neckline to fit better.

Really lovely top Mary. I really like this pattern and I think your addition of the band at the bottom is a great idea. It’s amazing what we can come up with when we make a mistake and don’t want to waste beautiful fabric.

Such a pretty top! I imagine it would look equally gorgeous as an evening piece. I really like the fabric print. Have you tried a walking foot for for this kind of fabric? ( I’ve just bought one in the hope that it will make working with this kind of fabric easier). The photos are awesome! x

thank you so much for your lovely comment.I must check out what a walking foot looks like as i use vintage machines and they have lots of attachments with them. I Just pinned the pleats instead of tacking them first as i wanted it made quick lol. next time i’ll spend more time on the top x
