Silk charmeuse tie bow blouse from Simplicity 1661 sewing pattern. The pattern features a pleated neckline at the front and back of top, a finished open split back seam, a hi-low shirttail hem and optional long bow tie, a slim tie, and sleeve options. I made view C with the floppy bow tie.
The pattern runs large, so I used the finished garment measurements to decide which size to make. I made french seams for the side, front and shoulder seams to prevent fraying of the fabric and for a much nicer finish, I also hand slip stitched the outer neck tie to the top of the blouse instead of machine top stitching for the best control of the finish here.
Nice blouse with a classic twist. If I make it again, I’ll probably sew up the back seam instead of having the open slit, and maybe make another view if the pattern.
