I should have posted this dress earlier. I just didn’t think I could photograph it, because I can’t put it on the dummy anymore (I pinned it on).
I made this dress completely without a pattern. I pinned the fabric to the shoulders of the dummy, then, using a piece of elastic as guide, I gathered it at the waist, under the bust and at regular intervals between those. The straps at the back (sorry, couldn’t photogragh them like this) are the only thing I put on seperately.

This is just beautiful. I love Maxi dresses. I have a New Look pattern for a maxi dress with straps and I am going to make it out of very bold african wax cotton fabric. But I love it in this silk. IT is very feminine! Brilliant work!

Very nice, and I’m sure it’s very flattering on.

ooohhh, this makes me want to have a dummy of my own really bad. I really love the draping you did! The print is fabulous – a goddess appeal :)

That fabric is gorgeous. I bet it feels fabulous to wear, too. The lines are very beautiful, and I especially like how the gathers fall perfectly from the bodice into the skirt.

Its lovely, and I’m in awe of your pattern-draping skillz. You gotta ‘fess up how you did it and give us a how-to :o) I’d like to make one in a flimsy cotton for a summer sundress.

I really would like to do something like this sometime…I love gathers. Looks so designer with the fabric.

This is amazing. We would love to see how you made this without a pattern….
