Novelty silk cocktail coat. Unusual pattern based on a coat/cape Lana Turner wore in the film “Imitation of Life”. 8 yards of fabric in two layers gathered onto a stole-like shape with gathered elbow length sleeves. Fabric was deconstructed to make selvedge-edge, vertical, “fern frond” ruffles that are hand applied on the second layer. Coat comes to the knee, and would be lovely over a short or long dress. Such fun to make! Custom designed to preference dress available. Swatches available by mail.
I’ve never seen a fabric like this. A layer of silk chiffon and a layer of silk organza with long rice paper fibers sandwiched in between. Challenging to work with, fabric is both stiff and shifty.
