Siedentopf Wedding dress

Added Jan 28, 2009

by zyurelaie

Prescott Valley,...

Using previous experience in making historic attire for a reenactment club, myself and three friends of mine created the dress according to a doodle on some napkin that i drew out after a looooong day of getting frustrated looking at overpriced and under fashioned dresses.

Material Notes

All supplies were bought at Jo Ann’s fabrics.

What a great dress! Your own design, too…….I admire such creativity. Did you use/modify a pattern for the basics? How long did it take you to put it together? What fabric(s) did you use?

    Again, congrats!!!

no commercially created pattern was utilized everything was drawn out on a big roll of wrapping paper (no other handy paper product was large enough) then transferred to muslin for a mockup of the bodice and then used to make the final cut of the fabric. it took me and three friends three days hard work and about a week of final tweaking to put together the wedding dress and all three bridesmaids dresses. fabric was a peachskin fabric from Jo-Anns bridal fabric section. dress weighd about 10-15 lbs total cost of dye notions and fabric (not labor though :D) was about 180$. and honestly one of my friends worked at JO-Anns and we got the employee discount
