Sorry to repost these, but I wanted to show how I solved the problem of the severely baggy bottom on these shorts (see last photo). This pattern has an elastic waistband in back, which I thought would be perfect for achieving an easy fit. Unfortunately, since I am very pear-shaped, it resulted in a LOT of excess fabric gathered at the waistline. Not flattering at all! I decided to redesign the back by inserting a side zipper, and taking out some of the excess with darts and vertical seams (would you still call these princess seams if they’re on your butt?). I’m very happy with the transformation, although they aren’t much like the original pattern anymore. The fit is still somewhat loose, but I think that’s okay for this style. They look quite perfect to me and not too loose. I’m impressed you altered them so quickly. It takes me at least several months until I go back to fix something on an already finished project.

They look great. Sewaholic Patterns draft their clothes for pear shaped bodies in mind, Tasia has just brought out a pair of shorts funnily enough.

I know! I’m definitely buying that pattern. It’s the first time I looked at a sizing chart and found a size that reasonably fit my measurements.

I think the transformation is amazing! great job! you’ve managed it very well. I don’t have the patience to re-do any of ill fitting projects..
