I made this dress based on Long Sleeve Seamed Dress 08/2012 #121.
I use pattern size 72, this is for tall women measurement. My height is 165cm, according to burda size chart, i’m a petite. FYI, this is my very first project on sewing a dress. I never made any clothes before. I learn to sew only by reading books, blogs and videos.
I made a dummy dress on muslin first. I couldn’t made mistakes on the real fabrics, coz i didn’t have any extra fabrics. I notice on the pattern, the bodice is too long for me. But on my muslin dress i thought maybe the waist is supposed to be a low waist. So i didn’t bother to shorten the bodice pattern. (But i should’ve shorthen the bodice! Maybe i will on my next project :p )
I made some adjustment on the side seams. I wanted the dress to be more fitted on my body. I also shorten the skirt.
I made underlining from the same fabrics to add some body, instead of lined the dress.
I couldn’t find a 60cm zipper, so i used a 50cm. It caused me a big problem when i tried to put on the dress. The dress is so tight, so i had to wear a corset, and pray it won’t tear when i pushed my hip&thighs into the dress.
These fabrics were given to me as a bridesmaid dress for my cousin’s wedding. I’m not sure what is the type of the fabrics. But they’re similar to shantung silk with polyester blend. Both are non stretchy.
Bodice fabrics has woven threads with stripe texture.
Skirt fabrics is black-gold stripes with metallic threads.
Hit the city streets in adventurous looks with utilitarian details like cargo pockets and belts.
Twists on feminine classics, like a bold patterned shift dress and pants with a racing stripe.
