I made my first ever collared shirt for my friend Ian who battles to find shirts to fit him – he’s broad but skinny, and at nearly 40, has given up trying to pick up weight, and is revelling in his skinniness.
He’s fussy and has simple tastes, hence nothing new on this shirt – straight up and down collar with a pocket and buttons. He also chose the fabric. I was going with something a little more exciting, but it was his choice :)
I really enjoyed making the pattern and the shirt, as it involved a lot of things I’d never done before, and fine work. The topstitching was unpicked more than a few times.
