Made from Lace Cardigan pattern 03/13 #107A. I used a size 42 and lengthened it 2 inches from neck to waist because I have a long torso. The fit is perfect. I found attaching the neckband a little tricky And I ended up using a narrow three thread serger seam. I used a very sheer lacy floral print polyester from Len’s Mill Store in Waterloo. I used some old vintage buttons recycled from an old blouse for closing and I hand-worked the buttonholes because the band was so narrow and the fabric quite slippery. . I added some hot-fix Swarovski crystals because everything is better with a bit of sparkle. I also made jersey Cowl top 03/13 #128C to wear with the cardigan. Together they make a nice light twin set perfect for spring.

Material Notes

100% polyester knit with a floral print

42 is my regular size and yes, it’s quite close fitting and snug, which is fine for me. I wanted it to have the close fit to take advantage of the stretch of the fabric. I made it to wear with sleeveless tops and tanks in the spring and summer so I won’t be wearing it with sleeved tops for warmth, therefore the snug fit is a positive rather than a negative.

Is 42 your regular Burda size? I want to sew this cardigan too and I read with others who did it that it’s rather tight and recommended to chose one size larger. Do you agree with that?
