I’ve finished my version of the Batwing top. This was the sketch that inspired the top (http://madebytrisha.blogspot.com/2010/04/ahhh-two-headed-monster.html). I was thrilled when I found the Batwing on Burdastyle to help me make it.
The biggest different is that I used a black sheer fabric with no stretch! The armbands work, but are a little tight. If you make this with a fabric that does not stretch, I recommend making the armbands larger. You can always make them tighter, if you want.
I also added elastic to the bottom. I like this look!
Although it turned out remarkably like my original sketch, you can tell by the look on my face that I’m not entirely sure about this shirt. It’s very different from what I normally wear, but I do like it… I like the fact that it’s spicy, but covered at the same time.

I understand your sentiment about the top not fitting in… I keep looking at this pattern thinking I’ll make it but not knowing whether I’ll dig it or not.

Well done it looks good I made that bat wing top but in a stripe fabric. The sheer is great with jeans as you have it or more dressy well done

I think it’s awesome and you should wear it with pride! I’m planning to make a black sheer jersey version for myself.

Cute. I like your version a lot. I actually have some sheer I need to get rid of but my list is about 10 years long! Maybe I can mock it one day.

wow, your sheer version has made the top more glam and could be fashioned in many different ways, great work!
