Description

I didn’t like any bathing suits I was seeing in the stores, so I decided to try making one myself for a trip to the beach this past summer. I wanted something with a vintage feel and stumbled upon the Hawaiian print fabric.
I used the (Afternoon) Tea Top pattern and altered it quite a bit, shortening the top, decreasing the cup size, adding straps, and closing with buttons instead of a zipper (no picture of those ‘cause they’re not well done).
I’m really happy with how the top turned out. I wore it with a black beach skirt, packed a book and a beach towel into my matching Charlie bag and donned my big black hat and shades. Too bad it rained half the week!

Material Notes

Basic cotton for the top and lining, buttons and elastic loops.

Wow I’d never think to use that pattern for swimsuit. It looks dashing on you!
