This is McCalls5929. I’ve made it with leftovers from Nigel’s EarthSkySea shirt, but with the fabric the other way around. There is a nice white embossed flower pattern on the fabric, which was too girly for Nigel, but just right for me. I like the fit and the ruffles are nice, though not really my style, but overall I like the top. I wore it out last night and it was really comfy.
Unfortunately I didn’t have enough fabric left to properly align all the strips across the front, so if you look closely the stripes are a bit funny.
One thing to be careful with on this pattern – I originally made the mistake of cutting the part ‘cuffs’ instead of ‘sleeve bands’ (cuffs are for the long sleeve variation, duh!) and then of course wondered why I couldn’t get my muscle-y (haha) bicep into the shirt. So off came the cuffs. While cutting the sleeve bands I double checked the size on my arms to discover that they still wouldn’t fit! I had to add an extra 2cm to each to get around my arms. I’m sure my arms aren’t unusually big – I don’t weight lift. So double check this measurement if you are doing this pattern. And of course, you might need to widen the sleeve to match, as the sleeve gathers around the band.

Nicely done! I don’t see anything wrong with the stripes either and I like the sleeves!
