Description

My neighbor kindly gave me this magazine when she found out I had started sewing. Its only taken me since Feb 2010 to get round to using the pattern for the jacket… but only took a few evenings to put it together. I used 100% wool coating for outer and poly lining. First time I’ve ever attempted a jacket and I found it pretty easy apart from making button holes on double thickness wool! I ended up doing them by hand in the end!

I used the reverse of the fabric for the shawl collar and was a bit worried how it would turn out but I quite like it!

Sleeves are cropped which is no good for the freezing temps in London right now but will be great for spring…. with my lovely new gloves!

Material Notes

100% wool coating and poly lining.

I’d buy that jacket in a heartbeat (assuming it came in my size ;) ) Very nice job indeed!

Thank you. I did wonder whether I ought to classify it as vintage! A 50s halter dress is defo on the list…. a very long list!

the contrasting white collar looks fantastic. i should get over my frustrations with the constant rain here – at least its not freezing.

Thank you Nookie! Maybe the rain is a sign to get you out of that sunshine (send it over here please) and have a rainy weekend indoors, working through that stash! :-)
