  I can’t see where it says how wide the fabric should be? Do I still need 3.2m, regardless of fabric width?

  Second that emotion mmicare. Though sadly I have joined the ranks of the “big girl” which is why I haven’t been using the patterns here. It would be nice to see the size chart include the measurements for the larger sizes. I have been watching far too much “what not to wear” so am making dresses for everyday,not something I have done in several decades.

  Bless your sewing hearts!!! FINALLY!!! a pattern that I don’t have to spend 2 weeks grading up only to find out that the lines don’t work on a “big” girl (btw I’m an 18-20rtw) MORE! MORE! printing this out now and plan to make it in a drapey-er fabric. Gorgeous as that fabric is in the photo the stiffness makes it stand away from the body, not such a great thing on curvy girls

  I’ll rant here too, sorry; PLEASE post a how-to for altering to normal sizes.
  It’s such a great basic dress it’d be fair to enable everyone to make it and not just big girls + skilled alterers.

  Horray finally something cute for a bigger girl. Thank you so much for doing something that I don’t have to strain my pitiful altering skills. I’m a size 48 and a D cup to boot.

  Big girls needed some lovin’ too. Dang now I have to go shopping again for fabric.

  Hi Lilo,

  The pattern is set out for a longer length, we ended up shortening it, since, as you say, the fabric turned out to be so stiff.

  Hooray for the first plus-sized pattern on burdastyle, you put us – larger women – on the map! (Ok, Emily goes also to size 50). A very versatile easily altered basic pattern. I would choose a less stiff fabric and I would alter the length – the proportions on a ripe body are more flattering with either knee/under-knee length or much shorter – as in a tunic.

  Hurray! I’m not a big girl, but seeing nothing but super-skinny models was really making me not want to make anything else till I lost some weight! It’s good to see BurdaStyle widen its size range; after all, what’s custom-making good for if you can’t make it to your size?
