I had my first sewing lesson with Jody Lange (sewoutsidethelines.com.au) on Saturday, she is teaching me about colour and print (I tend towards the conservative). Anyway, the first project is a cover for a sewing journal. I learned about vliesofix and embellishment and patience being a virtue ;) It was a lovely way to pass 3 hours on a very hot afternoon.
Calico, cotton remnants, vliesofix, elastic, imagination :)

Oh, that’s pretty! And I love the idea of a journal – I’d never thought of keeping a journal for sewing. Is that to keep track of your sewing experiences, and what you learn, or more like an idea/lookbook?

Yes and yes! It’s a place where I jot ideas, keep fabric samples and tie them in with projects. I also keep my Craftsy class materials in it. Perhaps the most useful thing is that it holds my multiple croquis, onto which I draw clothes I like to see if they suit my body shape- not pretty, but avoids making stuff that highlights Ms Blobby’s bits!!!

What a lovely thing to do. Looks like your journal will be filled up in no time. Did you take the 730?? I had to ask Mum if she had sold her 730 on Ebay but it wasn’t her. She wants to be buried with it, so it will never be on Ebay. I started a millinery course last week at TAFE. It is going to be great and I know I will thoroughly enjoy it. Enjoy the rest of your sewing classes.

Thanks Marjorie, the 730 hasn’t arrived yet and at nearly 19kg (so I’ve been told), the Pfaff will be the one that goes travelling :) I’m looking forward to opening the case and meeting the old girl when she gets here!
