Alot of firsts!
My first project on Burda Style, my first sewing contest entry with the Sewing Republic Apron Remake Challenge, my first attempt at Alabama Chanin sewing techniques, my first garment made that was 100% upcycled from previous garments.
For this project, I challenged myself to upcycle old tee shirts into a cute, wearable, functional apron.
Using Alabama Chanin design and sewing techniques, I deconstructed 2 men’s tee shirts, stitched a reverse applique design and remade the former tee shirts into this wonderfully soft and very wearable apron using the Sewing Republic Two Tone Apron pattern as my guide.
GREEN FABRIC= 1- 2XL green Men’s tee shirt, 100% cotton knit jersey
RED FABRIC= 1- XL red Men’s tee shirt, 100% cotton knit jersey
THREAD= Coat’s & Clark, red button/craft
STENCIL= Alabama Chanin Stitch Book, Bloomers stencil, page 144
