With more time for sewing – the joys of being unemployed – I decided it was time to push myself a bit and make something in a fabric with an obvious stripe. After toying with a few different ideas of what I’d like to make, I decided that fortune favoured the brave, and picked Lisette Simplicity 2245, a pattern with lots of pieces.

This is a genius idea! Looks fresh and young! I may have to try the stripes one of these days!

Thank you for all your comments. It was a really fun make – even though I was seeing stripes in my sleep for days afterwards! My dress is having it’s premier at an event this weekend, I can’t wait to wear it.

I just finished view B of this pattern yesterday, and although it’s cute, I think I actually prefer those side panels as a solid rather than the large-scale print I used. I really like the solid-stripe contrast. I may be making another version of this, except with piping along those seams, after seeing your version. It looks like it could be cute in knit too. I don’t even need the zip in the woven. Do you?

I didn’t use a zip or buttons because I was frightened to interrupt the stripe! My dress slips on easily, so the suggested buttons – which are really cute – are mainly decorative. Happy sewing!
